Because I Can

It is good for us to re-examine our ‘whys’ from time to time. Last week I took a recovery week. This is not something I would naturally do, however my body told me otherwise.072013165225

We have been training in karate for the belt we just received. It required of us to do 75 squats, 25 push-ups, 25 v-ups and 25 shoulder-bridge-reaches along with all of the katas, self-defense techniques, weapons forms, sparring, power karate and explosive kicks. It was 2 of the most intense hours I have spent. It was purely amazing! (more…)

Test Day

beltpromojune 124It is officially here…test day. I am not going to lie, I am a bit nervous. I know what waits for me later this afternoon…. pain, exhaustion and exhilaration. It is something I can do. It is something I want to do.

We have been training for this specific test for a couple of months. The training has been brutal at times. I have had to stretch myself beyond what I thought I could do. (more…)

My Strengths Are My Strengths

Chinese_Symbol_-_StrengthI am not a gym rat, but I truly love a good gut wrenching, sweat inducing, pain causing workout. My preferred workouts are done in the solitary confines of my living room with my good friends Shaun T and Tony Horton. Insanity and P90X2 have brought more moments of pushing through, near barfing and painful strengthening than anything else I have found…for me. I have fallen in love with interval training and muscle confusion, because that is how life goes for me (a little bit of intervals and a lot of confusion). (more…)

Weakness = Growth

file0001748142009Working out is one of the most inspiring times of my day. I love the ideas I get and the lessons I am taught while I am sweating buckets. I find that when I am trying to avoid the pain that comes with improving myself, my mind tries to go anywhere else. It is in the wanderings that I have learned so much. (more…)
